Measure the usable area, not only the boundary

Mark pillars, doors, walls, drainage points, trees and pedestrian routes. These features can reduce the usable play space even when the overall square metre figure looks generous.

Show the dimensions of access gates and any internal passage through the property. A delivery plan should explain how components reach the installation area without assuming direct vehicle access.

Choose a clear play sequence

A connected combination of climbing, a bridge or platform and a slide may provide several activities within one coherent layout. A separate swing or moving item needs its own spatial assessment.

For an early years setting, lower-level activities may be more suitable than a large structure. For a hotel or restaurant garden, consider the relationship with seating and the view from accompanying adults.

Fit the design into the landscape brief

Timber, planting and seating can create a consistent visual character. At exposed or coastal sites, discuss inspection and surface care as part of the ownership plan. The equipment specification and maintenance information should match the chosen model.

Existing paving does not determine the required safety surface. The complete layout, equipment and project conditions must be reviewed before surface works are agreed.

Share the constraints before choosing a model
